What are varin cannabinoids?
The short answer
Varin cannabinoids are the “propyl” series — cannabinoids whose side chain is three carbons long instead of the usual five. That shorter chain is the defining difference, and it is why their names end in “-varin” (or “-varinic acid” for the acids). This is established chemistry. Their pharmacology, by contrast, is largely a catalogue in progress — do not assume a varin behaves like its five-carbon cousin.
Pentyl vs propyl. The common cannabinoids (CBG, CBD, THC) carry a pentyl (five-carbon) side chain. The varins carry a propyl (three-carbon) side chain and grow from a separate acid line in the plant. Structurally that is the whole story; functionally, the shorter chain can change how a molecule behaves — which is exactly why each varin is studied on its own rather than by analogy.
